TENSION was recently high at the renowned Government College Ughelli, following the arrest of the school Principal and House Master by a parent over the missing of an SS2 student from the school premise.
The student simply identified as Samuel (surname withheld) never got to his parents home after his exit card was signed for him by his House Master in Sapele House.
According to sources, “After the passing out of the SS3 students, the school management decided to appoint new prefects and Samuel was marked down to be appointed the Senior Prefect.
“When he was not seen, a call was put across to his parents to know his whereabout and the his parents held that their ward is in school as they have not seen him.
“The parents reported case their missing child to police from Ughelli ‘A’ division which led to the arrest and detention of the school Principal and Sapele House Master for few hours.
“After few days of searching, Samuel returned to the school and he was handed over to the police where he was granted bail and was subsequently sent home from the school premises.
The Delta state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright could not be contacted to confirm the incident but a sources from the school who confirmed the incident disclosed that the boy, Samuel has been sent to his parents.
The source who spoke on anonymous condition disclosed that the has been a very good and hardworking before now but I cannot tell what came over him.
“Probably he may have gone to meet with his friends outside the school for a reason know to him”.
